Hallowed Be Thy NameExemplo
Jehovah Nissi: The Lord my Banner
Ex 17:15-16 And Moses built an altar and called its name, The Lord is my Banner, for he said, “Because the Lord has sworn: the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.”
The Amalekites were fierce enemies of the Israelites and the first to attack them after leaving Egypt. Amalek is a symbol of all the forces that oppose God.
Ancient armies carried banners that served as marks of identification and could be seen from afar. They boosted the morale of the army.
The banner which Moses lifted up was the rod of God. When Moses held it up in the battle, he was holding it like a banner, appealing to Gods power.
The rod had to be continually lifted up for Israel to win.
When Israel won, Moses realised that the Lord is a reigning banner over us all the time and he declared the name The Lord My Banner. He goes before us and behind us to give us the victory in all circumstances. He must be lifted up all the time in our lives. He must increase and we must decrease.
Col 2:14-15 He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the Cross. In this way, He disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by His victory over them on the Cross.
There is another banner of victory which God gave us in the New Testament- the Cross of Jesus Christ. The Cross is not a pretty ornament to decorate our walls, but it is rather a powerful reminder to our enemies of their humiliating defeat. When we are faced with shame, accusation, sickness, failure- we lift up the finished work of Jesus on the Cross as our banner of victory!
That’s why Paul said, “we preach Christ crucified”.
♥ Response: Lord, You are my Banner of victory. I lift You high over my life, for all to see. When the enemy comes like a flood, I will lift up Your finished work on the Cross. The enemy will see and flee, in Jesus’ name.

Let’s pray:
Pray for all the upcoming events in the church, that God would be in control. Through each event, Jesus would be lifted high and people would experience deliverance and freedom in their lives.
Pray against all the strategies of the enemy against the church. Ask God to be a wall of fire around the church and every member.
Pray for the manifest Presence of God in all the services and gatherings.
