Choosing To Trust | Read

Jesus invites us to trust Him with the confidence and simplicity of a child. It’s a humbling picture because trust puts everyone on the same level. There’s no superiority in His Kingdom. The newest believer can trust just as whole-heartedly as the most experienced follower. Trusting Jesus is simply about letting go of the things that we used to hold on to. Believing that Jesus will meet our needs - that His power and His miracles will provide what we are lacking.

But trust can be quite a learning curve. Each of us has to discover how reliable and generous God is, for ourselves. However, at some point, Jesus will give us the same challenge that He gave the rich young ruler, “Do you trust me more than…?” Like the young man, we each get the same opportunity, to trust Jesus, to discover a whole new life with God.

Learning To Trust | Pray

If you are struggling to trust God, then it would be great for you to admit that to Him. Ask Him to show you how much He loves you, and how reliable He is. God cares enormously about our emotional health and He wants to heal our deepest wounds. He gives us the strength to face the most difficult parts of our story and to seek out help when we need someone to walk with us.

God cares about the deepest desires of our hearts. But He longs for us to trust Him with those desires, so that we can find His provision, and avoid our unhealthy tendency to self-soothe. Why don’t you start a conversation about the things you long for? The healthiest thing we can do- is to tell God about our disappointments and to discuss our desires with Him, so that He can meet our needs in His perfect timing.
