Tandem bike

Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. (Psalm 100: 3)

James Hewett wrote, "When I came to know a higher Power, my life seemed like a tandem bicycle journey …. where God helped me pedal the bike from behind. I don't know when He advised me to change positions, but my life wasn't the same anymore. When he took over the reins, all I could do was hold on! God knew pleasant roads, over mountains, and rocky roads at dangerous speeds.

I became worried and anxious and asked Him, "Where are You taking me?" He laughed and didn't answer my questions, and I learned to trust him. I forgot my boring life and entered the adventure. When I said, "I'm scared," He would lean over and touch my hand. He brought me to meet people who have gifts of healing, acceptance, and joy. He gave me their gifts to take on our journey, which is my journey with God. And we continued our journey. He said, "Give those gifts to others; those gifts are excess baggage …. too heavy." So I did it with the people we met, and I found that I received when I gave.

At first, I didn't trust Him to control my life. I thought He was going to destroy my life, but He knew the secret of the bike–He knew how to make the bike lean when taking sharp corners, dodging big rocks, and speeding through scary roads. I started to enjoy the view and the breeze in my face with a lovely loyal friend.

Today, let God take the front seat and enjoy your journey!

The greatest act of faith is when a man decides that he is not God.

Reflection:  You willingly allow God to sit on the front bench when you decide to follow Christ. Whatever God does in your life, don't be afraid to follow Him because He has prepared a gift for us who want to depend on Him.

When you or I trust God in the most difficult times, He imparts more hope, as evidenced by joy and peace in your heart and mind.
