Fight for Us: Win Back the Marriage God Intends for YouExemplo
God’s love is always present. All we have to do is look for his love and walk in it. This has been true going all the way back to the creation of the world. His love was present in the garden of Eden. In the garden, Adam and Eve had it all; a great relationship, provision, peace, and complete fulfillment. And yet, even in that place where God’s presence abided, the place of perfect contentment and peace, the enemy meddled in the relationship between Adam and Eve. The enemy sought to destroy them from the very beginning.
The dynamics of their relationship were no doubt different from the challenges couples face today, but one thing remains the same: Satan’s mission is to destroy the lives of men and women, including their marriages and families. If he can use an apple as temptation, imagine how many ways he can use the rejection and abuse of our pasts to undermine our relationships. And yet, even in our dark places, God is still present. His love persists. He is still in control. No matter how bad or dark your marriage may be, God’s love is available.
So how do we access that love? How do we overcome the pain of abuse, trauma, or even rejection from our own parents? We can shake off any apathy and callousness and take one step toward him. “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you,” wrote James. “Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded” (4:8 NKJV). If you want to live with God’s love as your source of love, draw near to him. It’s guaranteed that he will draw near to you. But this promise comes with some requirements: we must cleanse our hands, purify our hearts and lay aside double-mindedness. In doing so, we are freed to pursue the true source of life-changing love with reckless abandon. Don’t doubt God’s love. Run to it.
Prayer
Father, thank you for being constant and in control at all times. Please help me to draw near to you and to resist Satan. Amen.
