Mountain Moving FaithExemplo
Who do you have faith in? This is an area that needs clarification. Do you have faith in your own abilities? We are told, “Lean not on your own understanding” in Proverbs 3:5, and 2 Corinthians 3:4-5 reminds us, “We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ. It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God.”
Though “believe it and you can achieve it” may sound like a good slogan, it is foolishness. God controls the outcome, not us. Proverbs 16:9 reminds us, “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” So, who can we trust and have faith in?
Our faith and trust are in God alone. He is the only One who has the power to take something small, a kernel of faith and move a mountain with it. The God of the miraculous events in the Bible is still the same God we worship in church on Sundays. And just like He was faithful to lead, heal, deliver, and save people in the Biblical times, we can rely on His miraculous power to be enough for us too.
Jeremiah 10:12-13 says, “But God made the earth by his power; he preserves it by his wisdom. With his own understanding he stretched out the heavens. When he speaks in the thunder, the heavens roar with rain. He causes the clouds rise over the earth. He sends the lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses.” God has proved His power in creation. Jesus proved His power through the resurrection. The Holy Spirit proved His power in Pentecost. The power of God is more than our own strength. Who better to trust and place our faith in?
The Lord has the power to move mountains. Our faith is in Him to do so. Nothing will be impossible for us because “nothing will be impossible with God.” This gives us wonderful news. We don’t have to muster up enough faith to perform miracles. It isn’t about believing hard enough, trying hard enough. We only need faith the size of a mustard seed. It is our God who performs mighty deeds. We serve an impressive God who is capable of great things. He can move all our mountains.
