Your Life JourneyExemplo
Don't Overdramatize!
Do you know where I went on vacation this year? To Rhodes.
Yes, exactly. Where it was on fire. And yes, at that very moment.
You can't even imagine how many people wrote to me: "Are you okay?" Even a German TV channel contacted me: "Can we interview you?" And my immediate response was, "Sure, but I won't dramatize anything here."
Please don't get me wrong. What happened in Rhodes is terrible! But where I was, I was safe. And that allowed me, for example, to help two families find new accommodations. From a place of safety.
I could have also driven to the fire, recorded another dramatic video, and cried in front of the camera, saying, "Everything is so terrible here." It would have shifted the focus to me... and distracted me from my ability to help other people.
I believe it's important to consciously assess our own situation from time to time and understand what's really happening. Are you perhaps overdramatizing things here and there? Are you maybe "heading into the fire" when you're actually safe and have a different mission?
In this era where we want to share everything on social media, we quickly wonder why we're always stressed. May I, as someone who's active enough on social media myself, give you the reason?
Any human attention that is "bought" always ends in stress.
Divine attention that is given to you leads you to peace.
You won't impress God with a great video of others' suffering. He won't be delighted when you overdramatize either. Instead, He will be pleased when you come to Him with your needs and reach out to people in need to help!
Because: "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed." (Proverbs 11:25 NIV)
You are a miracle!
