Day 5: Speaking Against Challenges

Title: Commanding Your Mountain to Move

Key Scripture: Mark 11:22-23 - "Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them."

Let me shoot this as straight as I can at you. The response from the Lord will rise or fall based on the level of your faith.

What do I mean by that?

If you believe (have faith), the Lord can move mountains in your life - You are right.

If you do not believe (lack faith), the Lord can move mountains in your life - You are right.

You will RECEIVE from the Lord what you BELIEVE about the Lord.

In Mark chapter 5, the woman with the issue of blood was in a bad state. She was broke. She was stuck. She had run out of ideas.

Until she had one more idea.

She had one more tiny bit of faith. I would imagine we could all agree that she had “mustard seed” faith. The smallest seed with the greatest ROI.

She knew she needed a major breakthrough. She had tried everything and had one more idea. She said, “If I just touch his garments (Jesus), I will be made whole.”

This woman had a picture of her healing. Her faith had become so alive that she could see exactly what she needed to do. She not only SAW IT - she SPOKE IT.

Her mountain was her illness. Her mountain was death from her disease. Her mountain was fear for her life.

Because of her disease, she was not allowed to leave her house. She was considered “unclean” by the law and would be stoned to death - another MOUNTAIN.

However, her faith drew her to Jesus. Her faith made her whole.

Do you remember David the shepherd - before he was big time?

In 1 Samuel 17, David was sent to deliver supplies to his brothers at war and return with an update for his father. As he approaches the battle, David begins to ask questions about this giant they call Goliath.

Remember this, the quality of your life is determined by the questions you ask. Proverbs says it like this, “Your gift will make room for you and bring you before GREAT men.”

David’s questions led him to King Saul.

David basically says to the King, “I got this. I will kill this giant.” David shares with King Saul his previous victories with lions and bears.

Faith has shown David a clear picture of THIS MOUNTAIN, also called Goliath, and how he can conquer him.

Let me quickly break down faith in the eyes of David.

Below is a simple framework David used to conquer his mountain (Goliath). I believe you can use the same framework to build faith and conquer your mountains as well.

  • Awareness: David first became aware of the mountain (Goliath). When he visited his brothers, he saw Goliath and became aware of the mountain.
  • Ask: David became curious and asked questions about Goliath. David also asked questions about the REWARDS for the person who defeated Goliath.
  • Remember: As David asked questions and assessed Goliath, he began to remember his past victories. These past victories the Lord gave him fired up his faith.
  • Visualize: David visualized his past victories over the lion and bear. David visualized how he would defeat Goliath. His faith was clear. He could see the MOUNTAIN being removed.
  • Speak: David vividly communicated to King Saul how he would defeat Goliath. He spoke it out in faith and confidence. He was bold.
  • Action: David took action on the faith he had in his heart. He had all the elements he needed. The victory was already won.

I want to challenge you right now to do something you have never done before. I want to challenge you to put God’s Word in your mouth for the next 30 days.

What do you mean, Anthony?

What I mean is that I want you to become aware of the mountains in your life. I want you to then find the scriptures to speak out loud to build your faith.

Faith is like a muscle. If you haven’t done this before, it’s going to be hard. However, if you want to go where you have never gone - you must do what you have never done.

Do - Hard - Things!

Whatever the mountain is - find the scriptures to speak and REMOVE that mountain. Get your reps in. Build your faith, and take action.

Remember, faith without works is dead.

David didn’t stand there and pray for God to kill Goliath.

The woman with the issue of blood didn’t imagine herself being healed while she was in her bed.

Their faith caused them to TAKE ACTION.

I want to hear about the MOUNTAINS God is moving in your life. Send me a message and let me know. I want to pray and believe with you.

OUR - GOD - IS - ABLE

GO GET IT!

Thought-Stirring Questions:

  • What "mountains" are present in your life that need to be moved through your declarations of faith?
  • Reflect on a time when your declaration of faith resulted in a "mountain" being moved in your life. What can you learn from that instance?

Daily Confession:

"I speak to my mountains with faith and authority, commanding obstacles to move and make way for God’s plan in my life."
