The Third Time God Speaks to Abram

The third time God speaks to Abram is during a moment of deep reflection and perhaps even discouragement. In Genesis 15:1-6, God appears to Abram in a vision and says, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield; your reward will be very great.” However, Abram questions God's promise because he still has no children and fears that his servant Eliezer will inherit everything he owns.

God then takes Abram outside the tent and shows him the stars in the sky, saying that his descendants will be as numerous as the stars. Here, God not only reaffirms His promise but also expands it, providing a visual image that Abram could keep in his heart. Abram believed the Lord, and it was credited to him as righteousness.

This third interaction of God with Abram shows us that God understands our weaknesses and doubts. He does not get upset when we ask questions or feel uncertain. Instead, He reinforces His word, giving us a clearer vision of His promises. Just as He did with Abram, God is willing to take us out of our limited "tents" of doubt and fear and show us the vastness of His promises.

Reflection Question:

In which areas of your life do you need God to reinforce His promises? How can you seek this confirmation through prayer and meditation on God’s Word?

God Calls You to Climb the Mountain

Abraham was called to leave his land and trust in God's promises, even when everything seemed uncertain. His faith was tested, and he climbed the mountain with his son, believing in divine provision. God also calls us to journeys of faith and trust, where only He and we walk together. Trust in His promise.
