Kong Hee: Navigating Through LifeExemplo
Your Christian Community
Have you ever stood in a sea of people and felt alone? Churches can sometimes feel this way. Don’t get me wrong! It is certainly not bad for a church to have a large number of people … As God changes lives through the gospel, a healthy church will naturally grow! However, the kingdom of God is a kingdom of relationship, and meaningful relationships need to be built in more intimate settings.
Acts 2:46 says, “So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart.” The early Christians worshiped together in the temple, then met in small groups to share meals in their homes.
This passage provides a wonderful example for how Christians are to fellowship. Meeting together in large congregational settings to worship together is a crucial part of Christian living. Following this, it is equally important to surround yourself with a close group of believers in order to dive deeper into the presence of God through a close-knit community.
Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another …” This command can only be obeyed if you commit to live in close community with other believers. It is in this type of setting that you will find yourself growing spiritually and being encouraged to live out the gospel every single day!
Prayer for the day:
Today, ask God to surround you with other believers with whom you can live in close community. Pray that you will be an encouragement to the faith of those Christians who are close to you.
