REVERSING THE ORDER
Life can feel like an endless episode of “America’s Got Talent’ (or the Super-Christian, Super-mom, Super-employee, ...): everywhere it seems like you have to prove what you can do and what you are worth. Whoever is in a new class at school, begins working in a new team or enters into a new circle of friends, is often very quickly stuck in a particular “pecking order”. And some do not shy from the effort of rising in this order…
Jesus turns such orders around in a fresh and radical way. He voluntarily steps down, puts on an apron and washes his disciples’ feet. This was the job of a slave. But Jesus does not feel like he is above that – and more than that:
By doing this he frees himself from the system pressure of this world and proves that it is unnecessary to join in the “ladder game” of life. Instead he shows a love that does not compete with others, but serves them. This is exactly how Jesus changes people from within: It is these disciples, whose feet Jesus washes, who later voluntarily give their lives for their faith in Jesus.
ACTION STEP:
Think about a concrete deed of servitude, resp. love towards another, who is below you in the “pecking order” of this world: an assistance, present, surprise … and also do it!

About this Plan

For many people Easter is merely a nice spring festival. However, the origin of Easter is powerful and relevant for all people. During this time, we celebrate that Jesus died and resurrected for us. By doing this, something incredible happened. In this reading plan we want to engage ourselves with the last 24 hours in the life of Jesus. Jesus’ death on the cross is not the end, but the beginning of something totally new. For each one of us. – “Because I live, you also will live.” John 14:19
