DAY 40 OF 41

ADMITTING DOUBTS

Have you ever wished you had been there? Then it would be so much easier for us to believe in God and to move forward for Jesus, wouldn’t it?

If only it were so. This crazy story shows us something different: The resurrected Jesus encounters the 11 disciples – yet some of them still doubt. Really, were they the great heroes of faith?

Luckily the Bible is full of such strange examples of faith:

Moses the murderer, Jacob the cheater, David the adulterer, Peter the traitor, Thomas the doubter, Saul the persecutor of Christians, just to mention a few.

Jesus is not impressed by the reservations of some disciples, but sends them all out into the world and gives them the responsibility to carry out his important commission.

What’s more, Thomas, who has gone into history as the doubter, went all the way to India. There he called people into a friendship with Jesus. Today there are still churches that claim that this doubting Thomas is their founder.

Likewise, your doubts do not prevent God from using you!

ACTION STEP:

Worship can be a remedy against doubt. Even the disciples who had concerns bowed down before Jesus in worship. Take some time to worship Jesus today. Maybe you even want to kneel down before him, with all your doubts.

About this Plan

#JESUS2018 - Daily Devotionals

For many people Easter is merely a nice spring festival. However, the origin of Easter is powerful and relevant for all people. During this time, we celebrate that Jesus died and resurrected for us. By doing this, something incredible happened. In this reading plan we want to engage ourselves with the last 24 hours in the life of Jesus. Jesus’ death on the cross is not the end, but the beginning of something totally new. For each one of us. – “Because I live, you also will live.” John 14:19
