Love God Greatly-Fear & AnxietySample

READ: Luke 12:22-26, John 16:33
SOAP: Luke 12:22
Part of the human condition is that we feel the need to control our life and circumstances. We toss, turn, and lose sleep when life is not going the way we think it should. Jesus reminds His disciples in Luke 12 that living in anxiety about the future is not what God wants for us.
A rich young ruler had just decided that he was not able to give up his wealth to follow Jesus. In response, Jesus reminds His disciples that life is more than making sure you are comfortable in the here and now. He teaches them that they are more valuable than any of God’s creation. Because of this truth, they should realize that the Heavenly Father will always provide for them. Therefore, fear has no place in the life of the believer.
God longs for us to know how much He cares for us. Because He loves us more than anything, we can trust Him to provide in everything. We do not have to push our way to dictate the future. God has already plodded the path.
In what area of your life are you resisting handing over and trusting God? He wants to take care of you. When we look to Him rather than to possible answers, the path suddenly becomes brighter. How might you seek Him first today rather than worry about the future?
Father God, Thank You for Your goodness. Thank You for loving me so much that You already know Your plan for my life. Help me trust You my giving up my wants and desires and focus on You and Your kingdom. Build my faith so I may seek you more. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
