DAY 57 OF 121

Jesus cries from the cross - Faith

Jesus last cry from the cross was one of Faith. Even though he had been forsaken from God, even though God had “laid on him the iniquity of us all”, Jesus still implicitly trusted His Father.  Jesus did not simply die because it was only after He consciously committed His spirit to God that His life ended.  Faith is evident in life’s victories but it truly sparkles in the darkness of life’s difficulties (Heb.11:35-40).  Indeed, Jesus example was emulated by the first Christian martyr, Stephen, who likewise committed his spirit to God as he was being stoned to death (Acts 7:59-60).

What was the result of Jesus death on the cross? He was the sacrificial lamb who bore our sin and He was the scapegoat who carried it far away from us. So far in fact that the protective curtain separating a Holy God from sinful man was no longer required! God tore it in two in order to signify that there was no longer a barrier between Him and His people! No longer would we need a priest to represent us but now we have been made holy by personal faith in Christ’s sacrifice we all have access to God (Heb.10:19-23).

Prayer: Dear Father, I come before You in worship and praise for Your great salvation
