Stewarding God's Kingdom Sample

Stewarding God's Kingdom

DAY 2 OF 6

Without Price

God’s kingdom costs a lot but has no price. Simple, right? Jesus tried to explain this in a way we would understand:

“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid again; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”

We can’t know the price of God’s kingdom, just that it’s worth everything we have.

There’s no treasure on earth that amounts to the riches of God's love, mercy and grace.

Maybe this is why Jesus recommended that the rich young ruler sell everything he owned and follow him.

Sometimes the riches we gain trap us into a false sense of security, making us forget just how much we need Jesus. It's as if he was saying, "rich people find it hard to make me the foundation for their security, identity, and significance."

Jesus also explained how the destitute and the poor in spirit are blessed, because the kingdom of heaven belongs to them. They see miracles.

In some of the poorest communities in the world miracles are happening. People are experiencing the kingdom in their lives, and using what God has given them to create an abundance, where before there was only hunger.

Reflection

What kind of needs are there in your own community? And what kind of resources are there already that could bring about a miracle?

Prayer

Father, with you all things are possible! Holy Spirit, I pray you would come and interrupt my life. Help me understand that the greatest riches are found in you. Use my life to bring the kingdom of heaven near. Amen.
