Stewarding God's Kingdom Sample

Following Through on Good Intentions  

Seeking God’s kingdom is spiritual and practical. When we pursue God and His kingdom, we grow in our understanding of His nature, and we see real-life tangible change in our society. That reason alone is enough to make us give whatever it takes to see His kingdom at work in our lives.

Perhaps yesterday’s reading inspired you to bless someone. How did that go?

Have you ever wanted to do something good, and for whatever reason, you didn’t? 

Sometimes we can feel moved by God to help someone and yet we fail to do so because we don’t follow through with taking the practical steps of following through. Don’t be discouraged. God’s kingdom is available to us every day.

Are there things you have failed to do previously that you could act on right now?

In Paul’s letter, we read how he encouraged the Corinthians to follow through on the wonderful start they made the previous year to support the poor in Jerusalem. This is an amazing reminder that God desires that we would give sacrificially to meet the needs of others. 

How rewarding it is that we get to stir His heart!

Did you know that if you live in the developed world, even if you have little compared to others, the reality is that you are still among the richest of the world’s population? 

Giving to the poor should be a natural part of our ongoing giving. Ask God to give you wisdom to know how to give so others won’t suffer.

Reflection

Today, the plenty I have can be used to bless those in greater need. And one day, when I am struggling, my need will be met by others. 

Prayer

Lord, please would you help me to follow through on the good intentions I have and to give generously to support those in need. Amen.
