Here's My Heart

The song Here’s My Heart is a prayer of offering. It asks the Lord to take our hearts and keep them. They are safest with Him. 

We live in a world that is constantly fighting for our affections and desires. In exchange, we want our sense of longing to be fulfilled. 

The Bible tells us that it is in Him alone that we find lasting joy and soul satisfying peace, purpose, and hope. 

Jesus tell us in John 4:14, “But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.” 

In Jeremiah 2:13 the Lord says, “For my people have done two evil things: They have abandoned me— the fountain of living water. And they have dug for themselves cracked cisterns that can hold no water at all!” 

Have you found yourself drinking from “cracked cisterns”? When you look at the desires of your heart, have you found that you may drink but still remain thirsty? 

Only Christ alone can satisfy. Only Christ can quench the thirst of our hearts and souls. 

In this song, we pray, “Here’s My Heart it’s Yours to keep, I don’t want to break it, others want to take it. Here’s my heart it’s Yours to keep. I don’t want to break it, please take it. It’s safe with You.” 

Today, offer Jesus your heart. He longs to quench your thirst with living water. He longs to fill you with rich, real life. He is good. He has made you and He longs to protect the offered heart.

What things or people do you quickly turn to (outside of the Lord) in hopes of receiving lasting pleasure? 

In what ways have these things left you “thirsty”? 

How have you seen the Lord be a “fountain of living water” in your life or in the lives of those around you? 

Why wouldn’t you give your heart to the Lord?
