The Victories Of Christ For The Believer

DAY 9 OF 9

Our Responsibility to Experience the Victorious Life

It’s not enough to know that you can live a victorious life, you need to take the next steps of obedience:

First: Knowing the truth that sin no longer has power to enslave you.

For we know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. The type of person we were before we believed in Christ, has a body controlled by sin. “The body ruled by sin might be done away,” is referring to the power sin had over us has been removed. Christ took away the control sin had over us. The power sin had over us was disjointed and broken on the cross. This does not mean that we will no longer sin, but that sin can no longer make us its slave.

Second: Believing that this victory is possible through the power of God.

Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with Him; this doesn’t refer to the resurrection of the dead, but of a life of victory in the present, here on earth.

Third: Appropriation of this victory over the power of sin

For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, He cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life He lives, He lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. “Count yourselves” means to make yours this truth, without allowing any sin to govern your body, interiorizing this truth in your mind.

Fourth: Leaving the ruling of sin

Therefore, do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Before Christ, sin ruled your life, but now that Christ removed all power, do not allow any sinful thought to remain in your mind. Proclaim the victory of Christ over sin and rebuke it in the name of Jesus Christ.

Fifth: Devotion to justice and not iniquity

Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to Him as an instrument of righteousness. For sin shall no longer be your master because you are not under the law, but under grace. Stop your eyes from watching evil, your lips from participating in conversations you shouldn’t, and have every member of your body serve Christ, the one who freed you from evil and sin.

About this Plan

The Victories Of Christ For The Believer

In this nine-day devotional, we will emphasize the Victories of Christ in three core pillars: 1) victory over eternal death, 2) victory over Satan, and 3) victory over the slavery of sin. Many times we find ourselves trying to fight a battle that Christ already won on the cross; thus, it’s necessary to know the victory that He has given us.
