The Wisdom Of The Teacher For College Students, Ch. 2Sample

The Wisdom Of The Teacher For College Students, Ch. 2

DAY 3 OF 5

In addition to having all the possessions and lifestyle that we talked about yesterday, the Teacher also had kept his wisdom. He was the top of the rung in every measuring stick for his society.

He was greater than all that had come before him. Whatever he wanted, he got. Whoever he wanted to be with, he was. Every man wanted to be him, and every woman wanted to be with him. He refused himself nothing that he thought would bring him pleasure. Why? Well, because he could. But that’s not the deeper meaning.

He had concluded that the struggle was real, and that he might as well enjoy everything that the struggle of the toil of life could afford him. He felt like he was entitled to it all! The only problem was when he really allowed himself to consider what it all meant, he returned to the notion that it was all futile.

Giving yourself to the pursuit of things may make you happy for a season, but in the end the effort to get ahead or keep up with the Joneses will prove to be a futile effort. Houses crumble, friends find new places to hang, and pleasures lose their ability to distract us from the reality of our empty souls.

Day 2Day 4

About this Plan

The Wisdom Of The Teacher For College Students, Ch. 2

The journey to discover the meaning of life continues with Chapter Two of the book of Ecclesiastes. For the next five days we shall join the Teacher on the exploration of life in pursuit of what provides ultimate meaning. The student on campus today will find striking parallels to the searches popular among their peers on the pages of this wonderful book of the Bible.
