Notice carefully Daniel 9:2 “In the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the LORD given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years.” Daniel used Jeremiah to guard his heart and guide his days. Daniel was doing in his day what you are doing right now: Searching the Scriptures for the promises of God that sustain our faith and light our path. If we are diligent and deliberate in this discipline, we will see the plan of God and rejoice as Zechariah did in a coming savior. Zechariah 9:9 predicts a very specific moment on a very specific day when Jesus mounted a donkey on the Mount of Olives and entered Jerusalem. What a great reminder that  His promises are true every morning.
