Slow Ride
We’ve got to keep on going
We’ve got to take it slow
Just got to keep on knowing
You’re right here, You won’t let go
It’s impossible for us to see the whole, big picture of what the Lord is doing in the world and in our lives. It’s especially hard to see it when we’re going through hard times. We have such a limited perspective, so we have to trust the process of sanctification. We are saved once and for all when we put our faith in Jesus, but becoming who He wants us to be is a long, beautiful, and sometimes painful journey. We like to call it a slow ride.
When we are going through trials and dark seasons we have to remind ourselves of the goodness of God and stand on His word that promises us that He is with us and that He will carry us through and sustain us.
We are pilgrims on a pilgrimage. Even though our final destination is Heaven, the Lord has so much for us to learn and experience along the way. This journey is tough and often treacherous but we’re never alone.
This can also be applied to how we view a promise or a dream that the Lord has given us personally. It’s easy to get impatient with the Lord and frustrated that it’s not happening the way we thought it would and as quickly as we’d like. God is really good at giving us the desires of our hearts but He always seems to do it in a way that makes us grow and ultimately brings Him the glory.
Action Steps:
- Identify the trails you are in right now
- Ask the Lord what He is trying to teach you
- Bring to mind how the Lord has carried you through previous trails
Prayer:
Lord, help me to trust in your plan and in Your goodness even when I can’t see the purpose of the trail I am in.
Help me to know that everything will work out fine and that you will bring me through this challenge.
