WHY SHOULD I EVEN READ?
Imagine you had the flu and you went to the doctor to get a prescription. You go to the pharmacy, get the medicine, and bring it home. Then you set the medicine on the counter and leave it there.
A few days later, you call the doctor because you’re not getting better. Your doctor asks if you’re taking your medicine. The medicine is still sitting on the counter, and you say, “No.”
The only way for medicine to do what is intended to do is to get it in you. Medicine doesn’t do you any good on the counter. Only when the medicine is in you does its real power go into effect.
The same is true when it comes to reading the Bible. The Bible doesn’t change your life unless you read it. God’s Word has to be in you for you to experience its benefits. It’s got to come off the shelf, out of the locker, and into our hearts and minds.
When we spend time reading the Bible, thinking about what it says, and doing what God commands we become like the tree planted near a stream — healthy in every season.
The Bible is more than a book. It has the power to change your heart and mind. As you read the Bible, you get to know God, and you become alive to His voice. The Bible reminds you who you are and points you to what is right and true. Knowing all of that, why wouldn’t we want to make the Bible an essential part of every day?
Respond
- Have you ever wondered if something was “from the Lord”? The Bible is the best way to learn God’s voice. God’s voice will always align with what we read in the Bible because He wrote it!
- What, if anything, intimidates you about reading the Bible?
About this Plan

Every environment rises and falls on the vibes of that environment. How we fill a space determines the success and enjoyment of that space. Summer is a season filled with space, and this devotional will help you fill your summer with the right vibes.
