DAY 3 OF 6

When Paul talks about taking every thought captive, anger might be the hardest type of emotion to control. By its nature, anger is a loss of control.  

Sure, we have all had that “stubbed-toe” anger, or the “my brother ate the cookie” anger. Even the “mad at myself for not studying for the test” anger. Those types of moments are often brief (except maybe the brother anger). But how many times have you really been angry?  

I mean the kind of anger that stirs you to the core . . . maybe so angry that it drove you to hate others. Maybe you were even angry with God. Just maybe you were so angry that it caused you to conclude that there couldn’t be a God at all. Have you been there? I have.  

My mom was murdered when I was 5. The rest of my childhood was spent with my dad who sold drugs and treated everyone else like they were more important than me. There was plenty for me to be angry about and I spent a lot of my time being angry.  

But God’s word is clear about anger. We are to get rid of the rage and anger in our lives. Instead of anger, we are to be patient, kind, and seeking the wisdom of God. 

I encourage you to meditate on God’s word so that He may show you how to take your angry thoughts captive and remove them from your life.
