In this devotion we have talked about being prideful, angry, addicted, and having strongholds on our hearts. I have dealt with each of these and as I said on Day 2, I also deal with depression and anxiety. At times I become angry and blame God for the issues I have asking why He allowed me to be made “broken”. My chemical levels are not where they should be and so I have small bouts of depression.
There is a song by “We Are Messengers” called Maybe it’s Ok. The opening line to the song is, “If I didn't know what it hurt like to be broken, then how would I know what it feels like to be whole”
In my down points, where I am broken, hurting, and angry with God I am reminded of this song. We are all broken because of sin and in our brokenness we grab hold of these strongholds. We are prideful, get angry, have addictions, we build strongholds and fortresses. But when we turn to God, they start to be torn down.
God is the one and only good fortress that we should run to. In Psalms 18 the psalmist refers to God as his Strength, his Rock, his Fortress, and Savior, his protection, his shield, and a place of safety.
We are human, we sin, and no matter how hard we try we will continue to sin because there was only one perfect human being, Jesus Christ. We need to allow God to start His work in us at tearing down our strongholds and run to the only good Fortress, God.

About this Plan

Are we living the FortLife or the FreeLife? There are spiritual strongholds (which we're calling forts) that battle within every one of us: pride, anger, addiction, lies, and more. For this youth plan, we'll talk about what it means to break down the forts and turn our hearts to God and living the FreeLife!
