The Whole Story: A Life in God's Kingdom, Part FourSample
Family Devotional:
Exodus 12 tells the incredible story of the deliverance of God’s people from Egyptian rule. In these days, the nation of Israel served as slaves to the Egyptians, living each of their days in harsh conditions. Through the bravery of Moses, God saved his people from this reality, which culminated in the Passover – an event in which God’s people were marked as “safe” from death through animal sacrifice and the spreading of blood over doorposts. Moving forward in history, the Passover event would be instituted as a holiday in which God’s people are to recollect on God’s grace, deliverance, and provision.
Daily Demonstration:
On this fourth day of the week leading to Jesus’ crucifixion, the Passover holiday begins. In Jesus’ day, not much of this day is mentioned in scripture, aside from Judas’ dealings with the Sanhedrin to orchestrate the arrest of Christ. In truth, Jesus likely spent this day in preparation for the Passover observance that he would soon participate in with his disciples. Take time today to do just that – reflect and prepare. Look back upon the goodness of God in the lives of his people and your life in particular. Prepare for this week’s Sabbath meal, as it will undoubtedly be a powerful time of remembrance and praise for King Jesus.
