River Valley Church SOAP - Part 5Sample

The Lord brings a final plague on the Egyptians. The firstborn of every Egyptian family would die; this would show a distinction between the nation of Israel and Egyptians. To be protected against this plague, God instituted specific instructions for all the families of Israel. This event in history is called Passover. A one-year-old male lamb without blemish was slaughtered for each household; the blood was brushed on the doorposts of homes. The blood on the doorposts was the mark of protection against the angel of death. The lamb was roasted over a fire, eaten with bitter herbs and bread with no yeast. Family members ate the meal in haste, with their shoes on, staff in hand, and cloak tucked in. Passover remains celebrated by Jewish people around the world.
