River Valley Church SOAP - Part 5Sample

The battle between the Lord’s ultimate power and Pharaoh’s sinful persistence continues, resulting in more plagues and increased suffering for the Egyptians. We begin to see individuals around Pharaoh plead with him to let the people go, for by this time, Egypt was quickly falling to ruins. Time and time again, we see Pharaoh ask for forgiveness and mercy, only to immediately harden his heart. Another important teaching begins to be revealed through God’s instructions to Moses on telling the children of the signs performed among the Egyptians. The Lord revealed His great power and protection over Israel so that they would come to really know Him and follow in His ways. In the Old Testament, we see God instruct His people many times to diligently teach their children and share stories such as in Exodus as a remembrance of His love, mercy and rescue. Israel’s redemption from Egypt was a sign of how Jesus would ultimately provide redemption for the sinful human race through His death on the cross.
