Kong Hee: From Dream To Reality

DAY 4 OF 5

Reviewing Your Body Image

I remember a few years ago, I started to notice that I was putting on a little extra weight. I chalked it up to getting older and, since I didn’t seem too overweight, I just let it go. But soon, I found it increasingly difficult to keep up with the energy level of the younger people in our congregation.

The problem gradually got worse till I would feel quite winded after preaching every week! So I went to see a doctor to have some tests done. He came in with the results and said, “Kong, your cholesterol is way too high. And since you have a history of heart problems in your family, you have an 80% chance of having a heart attack or stroke by the time you’re 50.”

Talk about a wake-up call! Through the years, I had become so busy with life and ministry that I grew complacent about my own body and neglected my health. So I started a simple regime of running and eating healthier, and over the past few years, I’ve lost close to 50 pounds! As a result, I look better, feel happier and have more energy than I’ve had for a long time. Most importantly, I now realize that, as the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 6:19), my body and physical well-being deserves much more attention and care!

Similarly, God has given you a body to steward well. So make sure you honor that responsibility... take the best care of your physical body in order to show your appreciation of the work God has done in you as His creation!

Prayer for the day:

Pray that you can see your body as God sees it—His beautiful creation and the temple of the Holy Spirit. And pray for the discipline and commitment to take the best care of your physical health.

About this Plan

Kong Hee: From Dream To Reality

What does it take for dreams to become reality? Dreams come true, but what does it take for dreams to become reality? It takes effort and commitment. First of all, you need to seek the Lord to know if your dreams are in His perfect will. Pray and fast; allow Him to speak to you. Then be led by the Holy Spirit and the Word of God, and surround yourself with people whom you trust, those who will stand by you and help you to achieve your God-given dreams. Not only will your vision and dream give you the motivation and commitment to discipline your life, it will also inspire and affect others around you to live out their dreams in Christ.
