Could Your Workplace Culture Be a Stumbling Block?

DAY 5 OF 5

Is Your Workplace A Stumbling Block? – Part V

In an article titled, “Why Ethical People Make Unethical Choices,” the Harvard Business Review highlighted five ways that organizations needlessly provoke good people to make unethical choices.

The final way discussed in this article is “A positive example isn’t being set.”

Years ago, I attended a CEO round table group meeting where we were surprised to learn that the host CEO was involved in a kickback scheme. His entire team knew this, but this CEO didn’t believe what he was doing was wrong.

This CEO had rationalized his actions and didn’t understand why the ethical climate of his organization had deteriorated. He finally repented.

Proverbs 13:21 teaches, “Trouble pursues the sinner, but the righteous are rewarded with good things.”

If you are not leading ethically, your team will soon follow suit.
