Love God Greatly: Growing Through PrayerSample

SOAP – Luke 6:27-28
Jesus speaks in the Sermon on the Mount about the tenants of His kingdom. Jesus tells those who love Him to love our enemies by doing good for them, blessing them, and praying for them. This is a command reminding us that love is an action, not a feeling. If we are to bear Jesus’ cross, if we are to follow Him, then we must do what He has done for us....He loved us while we were sinners and despised Him. Our faith is not really tested until God asks us to bear what seems unbearable, do what seems unreasonable, and expect what seems impossible.

What struggle are you having forgiving, loving the unlovable, or blessing those who curse you? Will you ask the Lord for His heart for the unlovable people in your life? Will you ask the Lord each day to soften your heart more and more?

Father God, I thank You for Your gift of the Holy Spirit because without Him, I absolutely could not and would not do this. Thank You for reminding me what true love is and revealing true love in action. Thank You for desiring that I love like You and Your precious Son. Thank You for continuing to put me in difficult situations where I am forced to walk this out by forgiving offenses against me each and every day. Thank You for choosing me to change the hearts of my enemies. In Jesus' name. Amen
