River Valley Church New Testament Soap Sprint Sample
Revelation is one of the most widely-discussed books in the New Testament. Some readers are drawn to its vivid imagery and believe it is a symbolic narrative about the closing history of our world. Others are compelled by its encouragement that believers can put their hope in Jesus' plan for ultimately renewing a perfect heaven and earth. The book was written by the Apostle John, a close disciple of Jesus who witnessed his crucifixion. John wrote Revelation while a prisoner on the Island of Patmos, having received a vision from God.
As an apocalyptic book, its ultimate purpose is to give encouragement and hope for all Christians to continue watching for the return and triumph of the Lord Jesus Christ. It also is to warn of the Final Judgment that all will endure as this chapter of human history closes, before the next one begins. In the first part, John encourages his audience to persevere through their struggles, and he looks forward to a time when people from every nation, tribe, and language group will worship Jesus in spirit and truth.
