Every Nation Faith City - Letters From LockdownSample
Day 4: Christ Supreme
2020 was filled with excellent plans, expectations, and ideas that were obstructed by a global pandemic. Unprecedented times call for unparalleled devotion. When we face difficulties and our hearts are overwhelmed, we have to remind ourselves of who Christ is.
Christ, the visible image of the invisible God existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation. God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name above every name. The name of Jesus is powerful, life-changing, and life-giving. When we turn our eyes to Jesus, our perspective changes.
Colossians 3:1 (New Living Translation)
"Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God's right hand."
Paul had one encounter with Jesus and was never the same. The blind man's sight was restored, the woman with the issue of blood healed. All it takes is one moment with Jesus for our lives to change forever.
We are living in changing times filled with doubts and uncertainty, but this is the truth, if we cling to scripture, even if we don't know what the future holds, our hope and trust is in God who is sure and confident in His word.
Global pandemics will come and go, but Christ remains the same through it all. He is the author and the perfecter of our faith.
God has proven Himself faithful. Faithful to his word and his promises. Our hope in Christ is trust in who He is. You might have gone through a tough season and at times felt hopeless, but It's in moments of weakness that we are made perfect in Him. Jesus is the name above all names. There is freedom, healing, and comfort in His name.
Prayer:
Lord, Thank you for being the anchor of hope. Where there is brokenness and disappointment, we ask that you heal and rebuild firm foundations rooted in your love.
In Jesus Name
Amen
About this Plan
We all find ourselves in some state of life, emotional or spiritual, under lockdown. The Apostle Paul writes letters while being "locked-down" himself to encourage the church amid crisis. His imprisonment doesn't hinder him from preaching the gospel. We'll be looking at the books of Philippians, Philemon, and Colossians in this 5-day devotional study.
