SWHW Two Year Bible Reading Plan: March, Year 2

DAY 19 OF 23

Top Takeaway from Jessica Hottle:

One of my favorite verses from John is from John 8:31-32.

"So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, ‘If you continue in My word, then you are truly My disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’”

Freedom is our anthem song as believers. He has provided freedom from our sinful nature and freedom to come boldly before the throne.

However, it is the Truth that we know that sets us free. We can know Jesus died for us as a fact. Yet, not live as though He did. Being set free and living as though we are free must travel from head knowledge to heart posture.

These verses are for anyone who wants to be a follower of Jesus. The word "know" in verse 32 is used in the Bible many times to describe an intimate physical relationship.

When we learn about Him through His Word, that is then when we can experience the true freedom we have from any bondage trying to form in our lives. Freedom requires revelation knowledge of God in His Word and what we have access to through Him.

We can also cross-reference John 14:6, where Jesus says He is the way, the truth, and the life. We can only know the Father because of Jesus.

He is the Truth. The Truth sets us free. Jesus sets us free through God.

Whatever is trying to come against you today, lean into what the Truth says about it. You are free. You don't have to carry the weight anymore or do decision making by yourself.

Father, thank You for always showing us the way. The way that leads us back to You. Help us to make decisions that honor You. Show us in Your Word where to find the answers to the questions we have. We praise You because You are good. We love You, Amen!

About this Plan

SWHW Two Year Bible Reading Plan: March, Year 2

Using God's Word as the foundation for our conversation, every devotional is written by women in the trenches of faith, family and work; aiming to live for the glory of God and the good of others. There are enough devotions included for a typical five-day work schedule. We recommend plugging into your local church for the remaining two days of each week.
