Dripping wet mess

Have you ever been unexpectedly saturated from head to toe? Whether it's a mischievous friend pushing you into a pool with your clothes on or unexpectedly being caught in the rain, there are few things worse than finding yourself stuck in wet clothes. Everything feels heavy and uncomfortable. It's so bad that we’ll do nearly anything to get out of those clothes, even if it means being late for our next appointment. None of us like being seen in ways that are embarrassing because we’re not sure how people will respond. A lot of the people in our worlds have the same mentality when it comes to Jesus. They see God as a cold distant, judgemental character who would scoff at the parts of their life that doesn’t look right.  They are convinced that God wouldn’t want to see them in their ‘wet clothes’ and so they stay far away from church or any mention of Jesus. 

It’s up to us to use our stories of how God embraced us in the embarrassing, ‘wet clothes’ of our sin, to encourage others that God loves and accepts them as they are. They don’t have to ‘change their clothes’ to come to him. Jesus often called people while they were still in sin and living polar opposite lifestyles [Matt 9:9]. He didn't wait till they were perfect because He knew one encounter with Him could change everything!! No one has been or will be too far gone for Jesus. [Psalm 103:11-12]!

Jesus, thank You that You're not ashamed of my mess. I pray that You will highlight people in my life that need You in their lives. In Jesus' name, Amen.
