The hall of fame
I don’t think there’s a human on earth who doesn’t want to be remembered. Whether it's for their intellectual achievements, sporting moments or the impact they had on people. We all appear to have a desire to be a part of someone’s ‘hall of fame’ and although, it's awesome to remember and celebrate these people's. The reality is, these individuals are often put in these positions to help inspire the next generation to do the same.
The Bible mentions so many heroes of the faith who did great exploits for God, their lives inspire us to believe for more [Heb 11]. There’s also local heroes closer to home, great pastors and leaders and men and women of God who have stepped out and done great things. If we’re not careful though we can exclude ourselves from believing that we could be used by God in the same way.
We often look at great leaders and say things like, 'I could never do that, I don’t have what they’ve got’, but the reality is you do! You have what every great man and woman of God has had, His name is the Holy Spirit [1 Cor 6:19]. The only difference between a Christian greatly used by God and one is not, is their personal pursuits of who God is and their willingness to be used by him.
The truth is there are no extraordinary people, there are only ordinary people who have been used by an extraordinary God! Everyone who has ever done anything significant for Jesus started where you are right now! The difference is they chose to hunger after God no matter how hard, no matter the obstacle and how much it challenged them. You can step into a life like that! So the only question that remains is - Are you ready to pursue God and be used by him to change the world?
PRAYER
Jesus, thank You that You provide everything we need to live a Godly life. I pray for the boldness and confidence to step into what You're wanting to do in my life. Equip me and transform into who You created me to be. In Jesus' name, Amen.
