Luke: Exploring the Life of JesusSample

DAY X // THE MOMENT THAT SHAPED HISTORY
Have you ever received a gift or some news that was so good that it took a while for you to believe it was actually happening? Maybe someone bought you the exact present you wanted for Christmas. Or maybe your friends threw you an incredible surprise party for your birthday that you had no idea about. Maybe there was somewhere you wanted to travel to for a really long time, and you finally got to go.
In our final passages for this study, we find Jesus’s closest friends in a situation that takes them totally by surprise. They knew their Lord and friend had been arrested and nailed to a cross. They also knew he had died and been buried. Yet they were now confronted with a reality before their very eyes that they also couldn’t deny. This moment would shape the course of history forever.
Today as we read their story, consider the implications of what is being said and how this moment has impacted the world. Think about what this moment means to you, and how you would like to respond to what happens in these final lines of the book of Luke.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
Q1 // Why do you think Jesus appeared to the disciples?
Q2 // What was significant about Jesus having something to eat?
Q3 // Why is it important that Jesus actually rose from the dead?
Q4 // If Jesus did rise from the dead, what does this mean for you?
