Luke: Exploring the Life of JesusSample

DAY III // THE IMPORTANCE OF FAITH
There are many things in life that capture our attention. Sometimes it’s the latest product that we really want to buy, or a new song that we can’t stop listening to. Maybe it’s a beautifully designed artwork, or the colors of a summer sunset over the ocean.
What are some of the things that you think would capture God’s attention?
In today’s passage we see that Jesus’s attention was drawn to something that might surprise us—faith. As the men in this passage come to Jesus in faith, they have an encounter with him that must have far exceeded their expectations. The invitation is there for us too. How will we respond to Jesus? Will we be like these men and courageously come to Jesus in faith?
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
Q1 // How would you have expected Jesus to respond to these men who lowered their paralyzed friend in front of him?
Q2 // Why do you think Jesus’s initial response was to tell the man his sins were forgiven?
Q3 // What upset the Pharisees about what Jesus did?
Q4 // What do you think Jesus wants us to learn from this interaction?
For Next Time: Read Luke Chapter 7-9.
