WHERE DO I START?

Now, you may well ask, where do I start? Starting is often the hardest part but once you begin there will be no stopping you. Here are a few simple next steps to get you going. 

Open the Bible. The Word of God is described as a lamp to our feet and light to our path. Taking time to read your Bible is like feeding your spirit man. In the natural, we need to eat multiple times a day to sustain our natural being, so it is with our spirit man. We must nourish it well with the reading of the Word. Don’t be overwhelmed, it’s much like the thousand-mile journey, it begins with one step. There are many versions of the Bible, so we would encourage you to speak with your local Pastor to guide you in selecting the best version for you. 

Spend time in prayer. Prayer is simply communicating with God. It’s not meant to be difficult or complex, it should simply assimilate the beauty of friendship; two people openly talking, and as they talk, they get to know one another. Resist the temptation to complicate this simple practice. Carve out the time, you’re worth it and so is He.

Take the time to worship Him. Why? Because we become like the one we worship. As you behold Him, you will become more and more like Him. You were created to worship, and this often takes form in song. This has little to do with the quality of your voice and much to do with the adoration of your heart. Worship doesn’t change God, He is the same yesterday, today, and forever; worship changes us. Worship is not restricted to a church building, you can worship Him any time, any place, anywhere. 

This may be unfamiliar territory, but the unfamiliar will become familiar, just you wait and see!

PRAYER

Lord, I desire with all of my being to know you. I commit to consecrating myself through the reading of your Word, prayer, and worship. Help me to navigate this unfamiliar territory and cause it to become familiar as I journey with you. Amen.
