The Warrior’s Bride: Military Family ResiliencySample
IT STARTS WITH YOU
God is love. Everyone knows that truth from the Bible, but we often forget that God is more than just love. He is also just. And righteous. And holy. And while it’s His justice, righteousness, and holiness that demand only perfection enter Heaven, it’s His love that provides the way: Jesus.
Jesus lived a sinless life and died an excruciating death on a Roman cross, accepting the penalty for our mistakes. And while God offers this gift to everyone, He will not make anyone accept it because God will not thwart our free will.
First John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” When you ask for forgiveness, wanting nothing more than to be forgiven, Psalm 103 assures us that “as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us” (verse 12).
Perhaps you consider yourself a Christian but doubt God in some area, withholding a piece of your heart from His control. What is the last thing you would want God to ask you to do? What if He did ask? Consider carefully how you would defend your disobedience or your delayed obedience.
If you want the marriage of your dreams, the absolute best marriage that God wants for you, the changes must begin within you. You—in the heart of the woman who loves a man who is sometimes unlovable and may not understand the call God placed on him and your family.
You—the woman who sometimes is unlovable herself and may not want to understand the call God placed on her and her family.
You.
Consider:
- Does any of this frustrate you? Which part, and why?
Pray:
Father, even when I really want Your best for me, I sometimes wish it was the other person who was the one who needed to change. Help me to always be moldable, allowing You the freedom to work on my heart and in my life.

About this Plan
The military asks a lot of its members and their families: moving, long distance relationships, changing plans and changing plans again. Uncertainty and barely managed chaos seem to be the order of the day. But you don’t have to merely survive. No matter what the government throws at your family, you can thrive as your warrior’s bride.
