Exodus: A Group Study

DAY 13 OF 77

What is this passage saying?

Paul encourages believers by reminding them the strength of God’s love is greater than anything that may try to separate His people from Him.

What is this passage teaching?

The work of God in Christ is sufficient and complete. God’s advocacy of his people silences every accuser and censures every condemner. God’s people can rejoice when the enemy attacks with tribulation, distress, persecution, poverty, or death because they do not count the suffering of this life to be compared with the future glory (Romans 8:18). Like Israel, believers today can trust in the unconquerable loyal love of God, knowing He hears their cries, remembers His covenant, sees them, and knows when it is time to act.

How do I respond?

In Christ, even the weakest Christian is stronger than the strongest powers of the world. Whatever the flesh, the world, or Satan tries to throw at believers, they stand strong because God has bound them to Himself in loyal love forever. In fact, not only do believers withstand the darkness – they can flourish amidst it. Is there “darkness” (sin, trial, pain) gathering in your life this week? Just like Israel, God hears your cries and knows the anxieties of your heart. How does God’s love empower you to not only endure but flourish in dark days?
