Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "First Things First"Sample
Have you ever seen a piece of analog weighing equipment that uses a spring system? Often, if it has not been calibrated, the needle on the scale will shift slightly from 0 so that the weighing device cannot function properly. Periodically, analog scales need to be recalibrated to insure the needle returns to 0 to maintain accurate readings.
Our lives are sometimes similar to this. Busyness and hecticness often make us lose direction and purpose in life. We journey through life on auto-pilot. Now and then, just like the analog scale, we need to “calibrate” our lives. Pause and take a moment before God for some soul-searching. Check the condition of our hearts and mind. Reflect on what we have done and rethink our plans. Make sure everything is according to God’s will.
Family devotion time is the perfect time to “recalibrate”. Restart everything to be better.
Devotion for Parents
Sometimes the busyness of life shifts our attention away from our priorities in life. So many things to do, so little time. We become hasty and make decisions without much consideration.
Today, let’s take some time to “recalibrate” our lives. Find some personal time to be still and come before the Lord. Rearrange your priorities.
Devotion for Kids
Sometimes games, movies, and other activities distract us from our priorities. Today we learned about our priorities and to do them well.
When we know our priorities and do them, we put meaning into our lives. Of course, it will please our parents too. Would you like to do that?
Family Devotion Time
Discuss with your family priorities to do every day.
As good family members, we ought to remind each other to do our part.
When busyness starts to overwhelm, it is a signal to pause, regroup, express your feelings and pray together.
