Becoming Like Jesus: Scripture Memorization

DAY 5 OF 35

Strength Through Weakness

Pray…

God, I pray that as I meet with you today that you would show me something new and show me how to trust you more than anything or anyone, through the good and the hard times. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen!

Read…

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV

Consider…

If you were to just read this verse, you may think that Paul is in a really tough season. But actually, things were going pretty well for Paul at this point. So what is happening here? Verse 9 is a reminder to humbly draw near to God in every season, not just in the bad ones. In our strongest moments, we are still dependent on God for every breath, for it is in Him we live and move and breathe. Apart from Him, we can do nothing.

What stands out to you in this verse?

What does it mean for God’s grace to be sufficient for you?

What would it look like to acknowledge your dependence on God like Paul does?

Practice…

Let’s continue internalizing the truth found in Ephesians 2:8-10. Pull out that notecard or flip back to that page in your journal. Copy the verse down in a different color and say it out loud as you write.

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, sonone of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:8-10 NLT

Listen…

Set a timer for 5 minutes.

As you lead into your listening, sit back and recognize the season you are in.

Whatever season that is, find something to worship God for. Put on a worship song that comes to mind and celebrate that, because of Jesus, we get to experience God’s grace and strength in every season and situation!

After the worship song is over, come back to Ephesians 2:8-10. Read and pray this verse over yourself.

About this Plan

Becoming Like Jesus: Scripture Memorization

In part 4 of Becoming Like Jesus, we are going to explore what it looks like and why it matters to internalize truth. We are going to let God’s Word do what it’s meant to: transform us from the inside out. And there’s no better place to start than with the core who we are, letting His truth shape our identity.
