Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "A Place of Power"

DAY 13 OF 31

A boy was playing in the forest, chasing after a rabbit. He was already on top of a very high pile of rocks without realizing it. When he finally looked down and realized how far away he was from the ground, he began to feel scared. He didn’t dare to go down the rocks. All he could do was cry out for his dad.

His dad came quickly and said, “Son, look at me. Don’t look any other way. Look at me, and jump. I will catch you.” The boy obeyed. He looked at his dad, who stretched out his arms, ready to catch his son. The boy stood up and jumped as instructed. The boy’s dad caught him, and he was saved without a scratch.

Like the little boy, when we allow our eyes to drift away from God and start looking at our lives’ problems, they become overwhelming. But God says, “Look at Me, child. Just look at Me. I will help you through it all.” Do you want to be like the little boy who obeyed his dad’s instructions? Do you want to focus your eyes on God no matter how scary your surroundings might be?

Peter walked on water when he focused his eyes on Jesus. That says a lot about what Jesus can do as we focus on Him.

Devotion for Parents
We hear this often: keep your focus on God. But, we can’t deny that many things happen in our lives. We face problems that require solutions. Other distractions shift our focus from God to everything else.

Today, pause for a moment and think of all the things that may disturb you from being close to God. Then, pray for God’s power to keep your focus on Him.

Devotion for Kids
God wants us to focus on Him in all circumstances, just like we focus on our teachers in class or our parents when they are speaking to us.

How do we do that? Let’s discuss. Don’t forget to put it into practice every day, okay?

Family Devotion Time
Discuss what it means to look to God and focus on Him with your family.

List down simple ways to do this so that your kids can understand and better apply it daily.

About this Plan

Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "A Place of Power"

Power! A thing that is desired by all humans, even though human power is limited. On the other hand, our God, who is the source of all power, is eager to pour out His power for all of us. The question is, how do we receive it? This devotional will invite all of us, both parents and children, to understand how to activate God's power in our lives.
