Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "A Place of Power"Sample
Our God is a creative one. God answers our prayers in ways we can’t imagine. Sometimes, we might be jealous of someone else’s testimonies and the miracles they get to experience. We pray and hope that God will answer our prayers in the same way. However, God answers our prayers differently!
For the next three days, we will learn together about how God healed three blind men - all in different ways. They faced the same problem and experienced God’s same power with the same ending, but they were activated in three different ways.
The first story is about a man named Bartimaeus from Mark 10:46-52. If you read this passage, you’ll find that God healed Bartimaeus with His words (by speaking). That’s quite simple. Bartimaeus didn’t have to do anything, and God immediately performed a miracle. However, do you remember that Bartimaeus never stopped asking for God’s mercy before that? Many people told him to be quiet, but he just shouted even louder!
Do you ever think that as Jesus passed that area, He already knew that there was a blind man who needed healing? Isn’t He the all-knowing God? Yet, Jesus didn’t immediately approach and heal Bartimaeus. He let him cry out loudly and even let him face the resentment from the people who asked him to be quiet, to see this man’s resilience.
Maybe you are facing this type of thing. In the beginning, perhaps you prayed every day for a miracle. But, when there wasn’t an answer, you questioned and doubted. Some people might start saying things like, “That’s it! What’s the use of praying?” What would you do then?
If your prayers have not been answered, pray and ask that one day, God will answer your prayers and the longing of your hearts, just like Jesus healed Bartimaeus in the end.
Devotion for Parents
How many prayers have you stopped praying because you gave up waiting for God to answer? Now is the time to cry out and pray again! Ask for His power to work for you and wait. He knows the most suitable time.
Devotion for Kids
If you can keep on asking and whining to your parents for something, then why aren’t you able to continue praying to God until He answers your prayer?
Come on! Let’s keep praying unceasingly. Remember that He will answer your prayer.
Family Devotion Time
Try to remember when your kids asked for something, but you didn’t give it to them immediately.
Discuss the reasons why, as a parent, you didn’t give it directly and what your kid(s) ’s response was to it.
Just like that, the Word of God today reminds us that sometimes, the answer to our prayers doesn’t always come immediately.
Keep trusting that God knows the best time to give to us.
KEEP ON PRAYING!
