Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "A Place of Power"Sample
Today, we will learn from the second blind man in Mark 8:22-26.
The way Jesus healed this man was different than the way he healed Bartimaeus. Jesus held the blind man’s hand, brought him out of the village, spit on his eyes, and laid His hands on his eyes.
In your opinion, what do you think the blind man felt when he was healed this way? Maybe he felt scared to be brought out of the village suddenly. Then even worse, he was spat on! Who wants to be spit on? If someone spits on you, you will feel insulted, right?
But, this blind man knew who did it to him. He learned to trust Jesus, the One who held his hands and touched his eyes. He learned to be obedient and follow the process to receive the desired healing.
God’s power can also work in our lives when we trust the process He uses. Maybe we have to step out of our comfort zone like that blind man. Perhaps we have to let go of our ego and pride; we have to humble ourselves and get to know the Person of Jesus and trust Him. We may feel nervous because of the darkness that covers our eyes. However, whatever the process, we must trust and obey Him. His miracles WILL happen.
Every time we feel agitated with the process we have to go through, say this verse. “Let my soul be at rest again, for the Lord has been good to me.” Let God’s power work over us.
Devotion for Parents
What processes is God allowing to happen in your life before you experience a breakthrough and receive the answers to your prayers? It might not be easy, it might be exhausting, but let today’s devotion give you rest and remind you that God is good. He knows exactly what you need. Trust Him!
Devotion for Kids
Going through a process isn’t always enjoyable, right? For example, to memorize a lesson, you have to read it repeatedly until you’re bored and tired.
Similarly, there’s a process we have to go through when we wait for His answer. Sometimes, that process isn’t fun. But, we have to trust that anything God allows to happen in our lives is good. So, keep trusting the process!
Family Devotion Time
Do an activity with the family that requires a process to finish.
For example, completing a puzzle, building a Lego, painting, cooking, etc.
After that, discuss how each family member felt while doing it.
There might be someone who felt annoyed because their ideas were being dismissed. Others may have felt bored or tired, etc.
Remember that processes aren’t always enjoyable, but when we see the result, the joy will be greater than what we felt during the process.
