Awaken Thru ComaSample

Devotional 2 – Crack the Tomb
As you start the 2nd devotional to go with the new Hulvey album: Coma, reflect a moment on yesterday’s exercises.
What did you learn about being in a spiritual coma?
(I’d encourage you to rewrite the definition of “coma” or at least reread it.)
What did you find was your current spiritual health condition?
Are you in a coma currently, spiritually thriving inside, or are you somewhere in between the two?
Remember – being brutally honest about this is our first step to changing.
Now that we have a starting point to move forward from, let’s realize something.
God’s greatest desire for us, for YOU, is to have a relationship with Him. His greatest desire is to know you and for you to know Him. In John 17:3, Jesus actually defines eternal life to be simply that…Knowing God.
What does the life Jesus promised in John 10:10 look like where He said:
“…I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”
How can we find this “life more abundantly” or receive it and then experience it more consistently?
Many of us have never gotten to know how to find the life He promised. Like we saw yesterday things happen to us. People do things to us. We do things to ourselves.
These are the spiritual diseases. The spiritual injuries and poisons that if we don’t stop and address and get help with that can leave us locked up in a “tomb” where we are stuck in a spiritual, unintended and undesired state. A coma.
If you feel this is you, would you align your heart with this prayer:
Heavenly Father, I believe that you said you made me in Your image. You gave me life and You desire it to be lived out to the fullest. I acknowledge right here that I need Your help. I haven’t risen to the life of health and freedom that you have planned for me. I confess that and right now I want to begin changing my spiritual condition. So help me throw off the diseases, injuries and poisons and return to the health You desire.
I confess. I agree that Jesus rose from death, the death I deserve for my sins and came to life again. I desire that for myself too. I want to be like Him. I choose to accept your forgiveness for my sins. I do not want them to hold me down anymore. I choose to get up right now and break free from my tomb where I have been lying unconscious in my coma.
It is my time to wake up. I choose to believe You have life for me, and I know I want to experience it. I am asking for Your help and whatever that looks like, I will receive. Thank You for Your forgiveness. Thank You for Your help. Thank You for Your Truth.
Thank You for You.
Now before you move on, I ask you to stop what you’re doing, get in a comfortable spot. Put in your headphones and listen to the 1st 2 songs on Coma.
Imagine yourself in your mind’s eye.
Try to visualize yourself in the story Hulvey is telling in the first song Coma. And let it play on through to the 2nd song: Crack the Tomb.
As you put yourself in the verses that Chris and Torey share, be engaged. This song shares Jesus’ victory over God’s wrath and judgement of sin, death, decay and disease.
This is our victory too!
This is the entrance out of our tombs and into eternal life to the fullest!
And it’s now!
P.S. – I would like to note here that I personally know and have experienced being in a spiritual coma. I know that everything doesn’t just change in life because you are going through this devotional with us. But I also know change has a starting point. A first decision has to be made and committed to. A life has to have a first breath. I pray this helps you take yours.
See you on Devotional 3. Go listen to Coma and Crack the Tomb now.
