Awaken Thru ComaSample

Devotional 6 – Came for Me
If you are reading these words and have done the previous 5 devotions, sincerely, I would like to say “I am proud of you”. If you have been engaging with each devotional and taking it step-by-step. I want to tell you “Thank You”. “Thank You” for showing up and taking this opportunity seriously and pursuing growth and change.
I know this is a lot.
If you found yourself not exactly thriving in life right now.
Or if you have inspected your current spiritual health and found that you are being affected by (spiritual) disease, injury or poison (refer to devotional 1 for reference).
And you have been somewhat unconscious; in a coma.
Then choosing to continue this process of cracking open your tomb and walking out into a new way, I know is challenging.
To let go of yourself (devotional 3 - Let Go of Me) and your own way of thinking and choosing to repent. Choosing to change your thinking to right thinking.
Changing the way you see yourself.
The way you see God.
And how do you change it…?
Having the right teacher and that’s not yourself.
We must let go of ourselves and choose to stop following our own way and instead, choose to become a disciple of God and start following Jesus’ Way (Devotional 4 - Matthew’s Song). By becoming a disciple, you see it’s more than a “student”.
A true disciple accepts and helps spread the doctrine (or truths) of another.
We don’t just let our ears hear God’s word, but rather we dig deep, as one searching for the greatest of treasures, and get God’s Word deep into our hearts (Devotional 5 - Humble Me).
You must humble yourself to find out what God says about Himself, about you and about the world around you. You must choose to believe Him and what He desires to say to you.
If this summarizes what we have been going over…I know this is a lot.
Also, doing these devo’s doesn’t necessarily mean that everything changes overnight.
I know trees take time to grow and just as these seeds have been planted, they must be watered and tended to daily and overtime, the tree (you) Will Grow.
If you are a thriving Christian and have been following these devotionals through, I hope you have been encouraged as you inspect your spiritual life. I hope you have spent time thanking God and praising Him for the growth you have experienced in your life.
And also, I hope you’ve been encouraged to see how music and songs can be used to convey truth and encouragement. For yourself…but also, for someone else.
I know everyone is at different places in their spiritual journey and that God has a desire to meet everyone at the moment they are truly willing and hungry for Him.
The truth is, God knows our hearts.
God knows your heart.
He knows your thoughts, your desires.
He knows your joys and He knows your pains.
He knows how to help you grow and He also knows the distractions that we set up in our lives that keep us from Him.
I would like to encourage you to come back to a phrase from the last Devo.
No matter where you are at with all of this and how it pertains to your life:
God loves you.
Doesn’t matter if you believe it.
Doesn’t matter if things are in your way and you don’t see it.
God loves you.
God, the Father, so loved you, that He sent Jesus, (God, the Son) to earth.
Jesus so loved you that He revealed the true Father’s heart and truth and grace and He never sinned.
He lived to show you life.
But He didn’t just live for you, He died for you and took all of God’s wrath toward sinners.
While the perfect Son of God was on the cross, God, the Father poured all His wrath out on Jesus. (Read Romans 5:1-11)
When it was finished, Jesus died and went down for you. His body laid in a sealed tomb but truly, as you have heard before, 3 days later the Holy Spirit brought Jesus up from below and back to life. (Romans 6:10-11)
With the keys of hell in His hands He cracked the tomb open and revealed our risen King. (Rev 1:17-18; Mark 16)
But He didn’t just rise to earth.
He shortly after, ascended back to heaven. (Luke 24:50)
Now He is at the right hand of the Father on His throne. (Hebrews 1:3, 12:2; 1 Peter 3:22; Acts 7:55-56)
As our Great High Priest, He constantly intercedes on our behalf. (Hebrews 4:14-16; 4:14-10:22)
As our Bridegroom, He is preparing for us a place to spend eternity with Him. (John 14:3)
As our Savior, He has saved us from the eternal punishment of our sins. (Matthew 25:46)
(I cannot say enough about what God has done through the giving of His Son for us!)
Our Father, now having wrath satisfied through His Son, has sent us His Spirit. (Gal 4:6)
He has chosen to dwell in man now and calls us His home. (1 Cor 3:16-17)
He is with us. (Matthew 28:20)
He chose you and has done all this and much, much more than I can possibly say…
and why?
Because He loves You.
So please, take a moment. Get comfortable.
As you prepare to listen to Chris and Antoine share a small glimpse into their testimonies, prepare to listen beyond just the music. Beyond the melodies.
Prepare to listen with your heart (your spirit).
Let the words in and allow them to wash over your emotions and pains. Your doubts, questions and fears. Receive the simple truth.
He came for you.
Listen now: Came for Me.
Thank You Lord.
As you move on from this time, I want to encourage you.
I won’t give you the words to say here, but for yourself, from yourself: Speak to Him.
Be honest with Him.
He knows you far better than you could possibly know yourself.
So speak what’s on your heart to Him. He wants to hear you.
He came so that He could.
