The Book of Romans: A 16 Day DevotionalSample

The Apostle Paul introduces himself and this letter to all in Rome who love Jesus. He mentions the great things he has heard along his travels about their faith, and how he longs to gather with them and encourage one another.
That is what our fellowship or gathering does to each other. It builds, encourages, stirs, and emboldens us into all that God has for us in Christ. Verse 16 is a stand-out in this chapter. It says “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”
The passage goes on to speak about the ‘righteousness of God.’ This means that God is always right and just, and through Jesus, we too have been made right with Him. We are justified by faith, not our own goodness or achievements.
By asking for God’s forgiveness and friendship through the powerful Gospel (good news) of Jesus’ death and resurrection on the cross, we gain power and boldness to live in and for Christ.
So, take heart friends. Don’t be ashamed. The Gospel is wild, wonderful news! It brings salvation, life, and purpose. It brings eternity.
