The Book of Romans: A 16 Day DevotionalSample

In Chapter 3 of Romans, Paul continues to talk about our need for righteousness and how Jesus provides this righteousness for us. Romans 3:25 states that “God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood – to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand, unpunished."
Verse 26 says “He did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.”
Paul, when writing Romans, wasn’t writing to the unsaved, trying to convince them of Jesus. He was writing to the Church. So, let this remind us that we need to constantly remember the sacrifice of Jesus and how His gift of sacrifice is the ONLY thing that places us in right standing with God.
Reflection
How amazing that God shows us the problem: sin and our need for righteousness. But He is always kind enough to show us and lay out the solution simply...JESUS!
