21-Day Devotional for Christian WritersSample

Today’s reading likens the Christian walk to that of an athlete. Athletes know that being the best doesn’t happen by chance or overnight; it comes by determinations and dedication: studying the game, training daily for hours on end, and learning from one’s mistakes when eventually they compete.
The Christian walk is like that. We ‘compete’ (strengthen our spiritual muscles), by immersing ourselves in the Word, following God’s guidance for life (‘the rules’), by not being distracted by the world and by keeping our eyes on the goal: Jesus. All these, so that when it comes to competition time (the trials of life), we are better equipped to deal with it and can come out as winners (literally wearing the ‘victor’s crown').
Thank God for the redeeming power of Jesus Christ that works in us through the Holy Spirit! Through Him and by Him, we are being conformed to His image so that, like the Apostle, we can say with confidence: “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
