Relationship GoalsSample

Have you ever heard of something called delayed gratification? It’s when you say no to something really good now, knowing that something even better is going to happen later. Delayed gratification means we have to miss out on one thing at this moment, but something better is around the corner! Sometimes, giving up on what we want right now ends up being better for us in the long run. Proverbs talks about how “haste makes mistakes” — acting on impulse isn’t the best choice. In the world of attraction, dating, and relationships, we need to learn the art of slowing down and thinking through the right choice, not just the easiest choice right now. Haste makes mistakes— wisdom leaves us truly satisfied. When it comes to relationships, we need to take our time, knowing what God has for us is better than what we think is best now.
Challenge: As you’re faced with decisions today, relationship-focused or otherwise, take 5 seconds before you choose to do anything and say a quick prayer. Remember the saying: Haste Makes Mistakes. Ask God to guide each step you take today.

About this Plan

Relationships are complicated, and relationships can be confusing if you're single, dating someone, or just putting feelers out there to see who you're attracted to. While the Bible never explicitly talks about "dating" relationships (because dating as we know it didn't exist when it was written), we can learn a lot of wisdom about relationships, singleness, attraction, and feelings.
